Here’s a link to our reviews of the Superbowl XLI commercials. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality, but there were a few gems. We give Coca-Cola props for having the most professional commercials overall. E-Trade came out with two great ones to stay on top of the all-time rankings. Budweiser and Bud Light had some good ones, too. Our overall favorite this year was ”Robot Nightmare” from GM. Enjoy the ratings:

Prince Halftime Show

Prince put on a decent show. It’s hard for a musician to do much by themself on a stage in the middle of a football stadium. Sounding good is a must, obviously, but visually it’s hard to make much of an impact without an army of people or lights. A great illustration is the Cirque du Soleil performance before the game. Very inspiring in bits and pieces, but it didn’t do much to create visual images for the crowd. Prince, however, is a great performer, so the show was excellent. There are few recording artists who could have done a better job. Kudos to CBS for selecting Prince.

Well, another year has gone by, and we’re back and ready to watch the Colts and Bears in Superbowl XLI. It should be a good game, but of course we will be watching the commericals just as closely. The most creative minds in the world laid it on the line by creating commercial ads to play during the Superbowl this year. The commercials overall seemed less entertaining than in past years, but there were a few gems.

Our favorite was the Streaker, where the shaved lamb darts out onto the Clydesdales’ football field, but we got a good laugh from the cavemen FedEx ad where the cave man gets fired because he didn’t use FedEx.

Superbowl XL

Okay, that was pretty boring. Have you ever noticed that the Superbowl is usually a really boring game. Either it is a blowout or nothing happens. Thank goodness there are ways to improve the entertainment value. The best thing is to find a good party with good people who can liven things up when the game gets boring. Also, betting on various aspects of the game can make it more fun — lots of people lost money this year because Jerome Bettis failed to rush for more than 2 1/2 yards on his first carry of the game. Those numbers squares liven things up as well.

The Galago was also disappointed in the commercials overall, and was really sad that Budweiser dominated the good ones. The young clydesdale commercial and the “A Little Monster” Hummer ad almost made the show worthwhile, however.
